Project Management: State Of The Union 2010
Even though project management was recognized as a distinct discipline in 1950 I still remember it was only 25 years ago when there were no project managers per se, the resources executing the work would manage it at the same time. Some organizations still keep this “tradition”, but they are less every day.
Few Companies Have A PMO
With the maturity that project management has in this day and age there are few companies with a PMO group and I have not been able to explain the reason why even though I can think of many.
An Effective PMO
Organizations around the world are finally taking project management serious. With this, comes the need to organize project management which takes the form of a Project Management Office, or PMO for short, especially in medium to large size organizations. This is all good. What is bad is that some PMOs have become just another bureaucrat, bottleneck, rigid, ineffective group that serves the wrong purpose.
